Lupus and Cicatricial Alopecia Benefit Gala a Success

Houston, TX (November 19, 2007):  

On Friday November 9, 2007,
Dr. Seymour M. Weaver, III, M.D. joined the many supporters, friends, colleagues and dignitaries at the Omni Palace Ballroom for the International Celestial Gala benefit commemorating his 25 years of Dermatological service in the Greater Houston Area and benefiting The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and El Paso Branch of the Lupus Foundation of America and the Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation (C.A.R.F). This engaging event presented a festive evening of celebration, awareness, reunions, and stellar entertainment.

The gala’s benefiting foundations, The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and El Paso Branch of the Lupus Foundation of America and the Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation speakers provided in-depth insight on the challenging diseases. The featured speakers included:

Dr. Weaver was joined by his wife, Tandelyn Atkinson-Weaver, along with their son, S. Marcus Weaver, IV and daughter, Ariel Weaver as they embraced an evening of many testimonies and accolades of his 25 years of service. The highlights include:

  • Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, guest speaker reflected on Dr. Weaver’s 25 years journey in the field of Dermatology as a generous, dedicated and brilliant “Renaissance Man” of his time.
  • Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-Lee presented Dr. Weaver with the US Congressional Recognition; Rep. Jackson-Lee spoke of Dr. Weaver’s outstanding Dermatological service and his humanitarian efforts to support the Lupus and Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundations.
  • Miss Crystle Stewart, Miss Texas USA, 2008 presented Dr. Weaver
    • Congressman Al Green’s US Congressional Recognition.

  • Dr, Weaver’s Celestial Skin International Staff Presented a 25th Anniversary Crystal Award.
  • Mrs. Tandelyn Atkinson-Weaver presented a visual presentation entitled:

“Dr. Seymour M. Weaver, III, M.D.: A ‘Renaissance Man’ of Great Vision.”

The program host, Leroy Williams, comedian and television personality, keep the audience hysterically entertained while Carmen Contreras, Radio One 97.9 KBXX, radio personality saluted Dr. Weaver for his perseverance and support.

Yvonne Washington, premiere jazz vocalist, and the “Mix” Band opened the gala with exciting musical selections, followed by the beautiful voice of Grammy nominee, Hanq Neal singing The Lord’s Prayer. During the dinner, Denise Jackson eloquently performed an inspirational dance.
